We have done several activities that focused on dinosaurs this past year, but this was by far one of our favorites. After learning about the different types of dinosaurs and several key vocabulary words like extinct, it was time for some hands on fun. This fun fossil dig that is safe for preschoolers and toddlers (with lots of supervision if your little one likes to eat sand) was created using a sandbox, sandbox sand, and dinosaur fossils that we ordered from Amazon. It was so easy! You can use different types of fossils or items to introduce Archaeology as well. This can also be easily adapted for a pirate treasure hunt. If you don't have a sand table or sandbox you can use a large plastic tub with lid instead for easy storage.
